In order to find out where Pie Off will be held this year, drive out to the Salt Lick tomorrow and buy a 1/2 pint of sauce. Take that sauce on over to the Scoot Inn on Friday night. The bouncer will give you a wristband to see Brooklyn's baddest dance band, Chin Chin, at 11pm. During the fifth song of the Chin Chin show, the leader singer will lay sweet nothings in your ear about the Pie Off address over a keyboard solo. Then you will know.

How to Enter a Pie

1. Print out Pie Entry Form.
2. Fill out Pie Entry Form.
3. Bring completed Pie Entry Form to Pie Off (with pie and cash money).
4. Get ready to rumble.

Basic Specs

The Committee is slowly, but surely releasing specifics about next week's Pie Off in Austin, TX. Please find some basic rules and regulations transcribed below. As always, direct all questions to pieoff@gmail.com. Just 9 more days!!

Pie Off Golden Rule: You must bring a pie to get in the door.
Two people (a team) may enter one pie. Teams or individuals may enter more than one pie.

Pie Off Silver Rule: Fruit-based dessert pies only
Entries must arrive in a pie plate, at least 9 inches in diameter, and must have a bottom, homemade crust.

Categories
1. stone fruit (peach, nectarine, cherry, plum, apricot)
2. tree fruit (apple, pear)
3. berry (strawberry, blueberry, cranberry)
4. caneberry (raspberry, blackberry, boysenberry, marionberry)
5. citrus/tropical (lemon, key lime, banana, mango)
6. miscellaneous (rock the bells)

oh, and plus also:

two dollar entry fee per pie

each pie must be accompanied by a placard and a completed entry form (to be posted soon!).

Pies will be judged on integrity of crust, creativity of filling, and overall effectiveness and tastiness of the entire baked good.

1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes will be awarded.

Pie Off comes to Austin!

The Pie Off Steering Committee has just finalized the contract and submitted all the necessary permits, so Pie Off Austin is officially a go!

It's all going down on Saturday, March 21, 2009 from 2-6:30 PM. For security reasons the exact location of Pie Off will not be released until 72 hours before the event start time.
